PURPOSE OF THE RANGE REPORT
The Range Report section is for keeping track of your time at the Range, including name and location of the range, target photos, guns, ammo, and accessories used, etc.
THE DESIGN:
When I designed the Range Report, I did so based on user feedback. Users wanted to be able to:
- Have information on the Range they visited
- Ability to add the gun, ammo (# of rounds), and accessories used
- Ability to add more than one target photo. Most users used a different gun and ammo on each target, which is why you can only select one gun, type of ammo, and accessory for each Shooting Record.
- Misc Information, including distance from the target, time of day, and weather.
- Most importantly, they wanted to be able to track the number of rounds they shot and have it be subtracted from the rounds they purchased
- Track the number of rounds shot for the guns they own
- Option to add guns, ammo, and accessories that were borrowed from someone else or rented at the range
HOW TO USE THE RANGE REPORT:
I’ve tried to make the workflow in as few steps as possible. But to incorporate the features the users wanted to see added to the Range Report section, there needs to be 2 steps (1) adding the Range info and (2) adding Shooting Records. By doing it this way, you can add as many Shooting Records as you want for a particular range visit.
(1) ADD RANGE INFO:
- Once you are in the Range Report section, tap the ‘+’ button (top right) to add a new Range Report.
- Complete the ‘Date of Shoot’ and Range Info. You can also add notes about the Range or your visit. **The Shooting Record also has a section for notes.
- If you want to keep track of the ammo you sold, instead of entering the name of a range, you can enter the month, year, or even who you sold it to. For example, you can enter 2024 as the range name.
(2) ADD SHOOTING RECORDS:
- After you add the range info, tap the ‘+ Shooting Record’ at the bottom of the screen. That will take you to the Shooting Records.
- Tap the ‘+’ button (top right) to add a new Shooting Record. You have the option to add as many Shooting Records as you want.
- On the Add Shooting Record screen, you can complete as many fields as you want.
- If you’re only concerned about tracking the rounds you used, you can select your ammo from the list and then select the number of rounds shot (or sold). By doing this, it will automatically subtract the rounds you used from the number of rounds purchased.
- Because there are times you go to a range and don’t shoot your own gun, ammo, or use your own accessories, you have the option to manually add the Information for those items instead of selecting from your own guns, ammo, and accessories.
- Tap the ‘Save’ button (top right) to save your Shooting Record.
- To add another Shooting Record, tap the ‘+’ button (top right) — you can add as many Shooting Records to the Range Report as you want.
- Once you’ve finished adding Shooting Records, tap the ‘Back’ button (top left) to return to the Add Range Report screen and tap ‘Save’ (top right).
STATISTICS
Once you complete a Range Report and Shooting Records, there are a number of statistics you can view, including:
- Guns: number of rounds you shot with a particular gun.
To view this information, select one of your guns from the Gun list. Once you are on the Details screen, tap the ‘target’ button (bottom right). This will show you details (Shooting Records) you added this gun to. It will tell you the date of the shoot, name of the range, ammo used, and number of rounds shot. It will also provide the total rounds shot (if you have more than one Shooting Record). - Ammo: there are a number of reports you can view about rounds shot:
- Select ammo from the Ammo list. Once you are on the Details screen, under Rounds, it will tell you how many rounds you purchased, how many rounds were shot, and how many rounds you have remaining. If you tap the ‘target’ button (bottom middle) it will show you details (Shooting Records) you added this ammo to. It will tell you the date of the shoot, name of the range, gun used, and number of rounds shot. It will also provide the total rounds shot (if you have more than one Shooting Record)
- In the Statistic section, under ‘Ammo’ you can view how many rounds you purchased, how many rounds you shot, and how many rounds you have remaining. **If you are a Premium Member, you can tap on the ‘# of Rounds Shot’ to view a more detailed information on the rounds you shot. You can sort the report by month, year, brand of ammo, caliber, gun used, and range.
- Accessories: number of times you used the accessory at the range.
To view this information, select one of your accessories from the Accessory list. Once you are on the Details screen, tap the ‘target’ button (bottom middle). This will show you details (Shooting Records) you added this accessory to. It will tell you the date of the shoot, name of the range, gun used, and number of rounds shot. It will also provide the total rounds shot (if you have more than one Shooting Record).
